New video: Dave covers Ryan Adams in support of MyMusicRX & Children’s Cancer Association

Just found this new video that MyMusicRX uploaded to YouTube today. It’s Dave doing a solo, acoustic cover of Ryan Adams’ “My Winding Wheel.” It was recorded back in October when GOY was performing in Austin, TX, at the ACL Festival.

MyMusicRX is a program from the Children’s Cancer Association that uses music to engage and support hospitalized children. As part of this “Bedstock” series, musicians perform while sitting in bed as a show of solidarity with the kids who are stuck in hospital beds. What a neat idea.

You can learn more about the program at MyMusicRX.org.

Gang of Youths has added another festival date to its plans for 2019. They’re confirmed to perform at the Sziget Festival in Budapest on Friday, August 9, 2019.

It’ll be GOY’s first time performing at Sziget and first show in Hungary. Headliners at the week-long festival include Foo Fighters, Florence and The Machine, Ed Sheeran and Twenty One Pilots.

Tickets are available now via the Festival’s web site.

This is the second confirmed 2019 festival for Gang of Youths. As we reported a couple weeks ago, they’re also set to play at Cruilla Barcelona on July 5, 2019.

Gang of Youths taking on “disgraceful” Viagogo

Calling it a “disgraceful and disruptive scam,” Gang of Youths is organizing an effort that it hopes will eventually kick Viagogo out of Australia.

The band posted Monday on both its Facebook and Instagram accounts, asking music fans and business owners to come forward with stories about how the online ticket resale marketplace has negatively impacted them:

There is an opportunity to help eradicate this business from Australia. We are calling for as many examples of how this fraudulent operation has affected your business, additionally, we are encouraging artists to also post on their socials so fans can reply with real-life examples of how they have been affected by Viagogo. We intend to give this documentation to the Opposition Party to form part of their campaign pledge to have this site closed down.

People with a story or information to share are asked to send an email to [email protected] by Wednesday.

Gang of Youths also called out Viagogo earlier this year when tickets for its Australian tour dates went on sale, warning fans in all caps, “DO NOT BUY A TICKET FROM VIAGOGO.”

Viagogo operates in more than 60 countries worldwide. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has sued the company, claiming deceptive business practices. Viagogo is under investigation in the UK, where a government minister has told fans that, if they have to use a secondary site to buy tickets, “don’t choose Viagogo – they are the worst.”
