Time to Say Goodbye & Just Be Fans Again

We’ve had a fun 3+ years doing DeepestSighs.com, but our little team of three has decided it’s time to close up shop. We’ll continue to update the tour setlists on the site through the Sydney gig on August 22, and that’ll be it.

I don’t want to put words in Chris’s or Erik’s mouths, so just speaking for myself: Running a fan site for your fave band is a lot of fun, but it’s also a lot of work. To do it right, which we’ve always tried to do, you have to pay attention to both the band and the fans pretty much 24/7/365. That’s how you find out what’s going on, so you can report it and share it with the fans in your reading audience. For me, it’s recently started to feel more like a job and less like a fun hobby…like something I have to do instead of something I want to do. That tells me it’s time to stop and just be a fan again.

All three of us are and will continue to be huge fans of the band; that has nothing to do with it. (I can’t wait to see a couple shows on the upcoming North American tour!)

If you have any interest in taking over DeepestSighs.com — the whole site, or even just the tour dates/setlists — we’re open to that idea. Drop us a note. We’d love to see someone who loves the band keep what we’ve started alive. But if that doesn’t happen, that’s okay, too.

I think I DO speak for Chris and Erik when I say this: Thank you for following us, for reading us, for connecting with us, and for the kind words you’ve shared about DeepestSighs.com. It’s been fun. ❤️?

Help Wanted! We’re looking for contributors

You wanted to fight for a cause? Then come in and join Deepest Sighs!

Don’t stop, don’t stop — keep reading. We write stuff about this band we believe in.

It’s a great time, time spent with us. We’re cool fans who love songs with great lyrics.

You can join the cowards all aboard the outrage train, or you can join Deepest Sighs, and come drinking in the rain.

We want someone to want us for who we are. We want fans who’ll try and not let us down easy, easy tonight. Easy, easy tonight….

Hi Gang of Youths fans! Hope you enjoyed our little riff on “Let Me Down Easy” and even more, we hope you’ll think about joining us on this fun journey as we share our love and appreciation for Gang of Youths with fans all over the world.

If you’re interested in sharing and expressing your fandom with others, here are some of the ways you can contribute to Deepest Sighs:

Writing

Write a guest article(s). We’re looking for interesting fan stories to share. We know the band’s music means a great deal to many of you for very personal reasons. If you’re willing to share that with the world, why not share it here? It could be a personal story about something the band’s songs have helped you overcome, or something the music has helped you understand … or something on the lighter side that other fans would love to read about.

Or, if you love to write and can write on a consistent basis — news, features, interviews, etc. — we’re open to adding regular staff/contributors to the team.

Photos

Share your concert photos with us for permanent archiving here on Deepest Sighs. We know it’s fun to share pics on social media, but after a day or two they’re never seen again. We’re hosting photo albums from fans that you can refer to time and time again — see the Nashville photos that Jones Willingham shared with us, or the Indianapolis photos that Michelle Watson shared. We’d love to add your photos, too!

Videos

Similarly, if you have full-song concert videos, we’d love to share them on our YouTube channel.

Forum

Participate in the Gang of Youths fan forum here on DS. We have a neat group of fans from around the world posting in the forum, and we’d love to have your input there, too. Start some discussions, join existing conversations or add to our growing collection of Gang of Youths GIFs.

Hidden Talents?

If you have some other talent (drawing, making videos, Photoshopping hysterical memes, etc.) that you think fans would enjoy, tell us about it. We’re keeping things in the open.

We’re looking for people warm and smart, with a heart in first and a soul behind. If that’s you, drop us a note today and let us know how you want to contribute. Respond to the call while there’s speakers in the outfield blasting out your favorite song. We can’t wait to hear from you!

Site news: Gang of Youths’ Tour History complete

After hundreds of hours of research, we’ve finally completed the Tours section of DeepestSighs.com — it’s the most accurate and comprehensive accounting of Gang of Youths’ concert history on the web, going back to their first proper gig in 2012 and continuing to the present day.

If you just want to dive right in, here’s the link:

Gang of Youths’ Tours & Concert Setlists

At the bottom of that page, after the links to all of GOY’s tours, we shared some detail on the research that helped us track down all known performances, lots of setlist information, plus photos, videos and more.

Now that we’ve finished building out this section of the site, we’re able to put together some interesting data — like how many shows the band has played, what countries and venues they’ve played the most, and so forth. We’ve got answers in this new video:

Great thanks to Joanne Madaffari, Krissie C., Jones Willingham, Michelle W. and David R. for sharing the photos and video we used in that video!

Did we miss something?

If you have any additions or corrections that we should make in the Tours section, get in touch anytime. We’d love to hear from you!

If you have photos or videos from any GOY show, we’d love to include them on our concert pages. See the Nashville photo gallery that Jones Willingham shared with us, or the Indianapolis photo gallery that Michelle W. shared for an example of how we’ll present your stuff.

If you’ve read this far – thanks! Now reward yourself by checking out our Tours section. 🙂
