The votes have been tallied. The countdown is over. And Gang of Youths placed three songs in Triple J’s Hot 100 of the 2010s — plus another two that placed between 100-200.
The top performer of that handful was “Magnolia,” which came in at No. 6 overall — TBH, that’s a few spots lower than even the unbiased music observers were predicting. The top song was Tame Impala’s “The Less I Know The Better.”
Here’s how Gang of Youths fared overall in the top 200 songs of the decade:
19. “Let Me Down Easy”
52. “The Deepest Sighs, The Frankest Shadows”
108. “What Can I Do If The Fire Goes Out?”
160. “The Heart Is A Muscle”
They’re all too low, right?
Anyway, if you’re a chart geek or stats geek, Triple J has all kinds of facts and trivia about the countdown — like “Magnolia” was one of the biggest jumpers, going from #21 in the 2015 countdown to #6 in the all-decade countdown.
