Gang of Youths surprised us all today with the unexpected announcement of a headlining show on September 21 at the historic Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles.
Public ticket sales will open this Friday, July 19, at 10:00 am PT and can be purchased online at AXS.com. Tickets cost $22 and the show is all ages.
If you’re on the band’s mailing list, a ticket pre-sale is underway right now at that same link — look for the password in the email you should’ve received by now. There’s also a separate pre-sale starting tomorrow (Thursday), presumably for venue/AXS.com members.
The show will take place during what was a brief period of downtime while Gang of Youths is opening for Mumford & Sons. That tour has the band(s) playing in San Francisco on September 19, and then nothing until Guadalajara, Mexico, on September 24.
It’ll be Gang of Youths’ first time performing at the Roxy Theatre. Located on Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles, the venue opened in 1973 and has hosted shows by some of the biggest names in music history. The Roxy is known for its good acoustics — many big-name acts have released performances that were recorded there: Bruce Springsteen, Bob Marley, Guns N’ Roses, Neil Young, Van Morrison and others.
