Comments: Gang of Youths headlines the Back the Night festival, which raises money to support members of the Australian music industry who are facing hardships due to the pandemic. The festival plays out with more than 15 bands playing at six different venues, and culminates with Gang of Youths’ returning to the Oxford Art Factory for the first time since 2015. London Grammar was originally due to headline; Gang of Youths was named as their replacement on May 17.
With almost a week having passed since the end of the North American tour, and Dave’s voice apparently having fully recovered, “The Man Himself” makes its return to the set. “Goal Of The Century” finds Dave playing/singing solo on piano as a sort of medley immediately after “Brothers.” During “Magnolia,” he makes a complete lap around the small venue — walking to the back, up the stairs to the balcony, and returning down the stairs on the opposite side of the room.
Still nursing his hand injury, Donnie misses the show to be in London with his wife, who’s about to give birth to their first child.
