(GOY opens for The Jezabels)

Comments: Dylan Evans wrote a fair amount about GOY’s appearance for Tone Deaf, including this:

The Sydney-born Gang Of Youths opened to a sparse audience, various patrons still flooding in one by one. As punters entered, they were hit with a crystal clear sound from their opening number, ‘Evangelists’. “We’re Gang Of Youths from Nashville, Tennessee,” frontman David Leaupepe joked, “and this song is not at all appropriate for this venue but hey, fuck it.” The audience laughed as the band carried on, thriving in such a large performance space.

In Casual Band Blogger, here’s what Lisa Robinson had to say:

Having never heard of these guys before, I had no idea what to expect, and I certainly didn’t anticipate the performance I was given. An amazing array of raw instruments and grunge style vocals with a twist that I’d never before experienced. It’s difficult to put into words the exact performance style and appeal of Gang of Youths, I feel like it’s just something that needs to be personally and individually consumed. That, and half an hour of tunes laced with bouts of early 90s guitar thrashing by not only the front man but each band member is nothing short of visionary.
