Comments: Several fans sense a different energy in the air tonight (i.e., more electricity and anticipation) as Gang of Youths plays its second straight night at The Roxy — but tonight’s show was the first one announced, and it’s on a Saturday night, meaning it may have attracted a somewhat different audience. The band plays the same set as last night’s show, but no one who was at both shows really seems to be bothered — the crowd is, again, loud and energetic throughout the night. “The Heart Is A Muscle” is again dedicated to Dave’s late father. Dave forgets the lyrics during the second verse of “Let Me Down Easy,” so he stoops down and holds the microphone out for a fan in the front row. When that fan doesn’t pick up the right lyric, Dave leans out further and holds the mic for another fan — but that fan starts singing the 3rd verse, so Dave pulls back to the stage and picks up the song during the next chorus. It’s a very human and funny moment in the middle of the show that prompts Dave to joke after the song, “Gang of Youths’ songs have too many fucking words!” Dave does his usual walk through the audience during “Magnolia,” but has trouble getting back to the stage until he walks to the far edge and climbs up. He dedicates “Say Yes To Life” to the band’s friend, actor Alex Hodge from HBO’s Insecure, whom he describes as a “half-Asian kid from Sydney who managed to do what no one thought was possible, except for us and him.” Dave has previously mentioned that Hodge’s story inspired the writing of “Say Yes To Life.” He tells the audience that Hodge is at the show tonight.

If you hate long and sappy posts then you should stop reading and keep scrolling. I've spent the last 24 hours trying to figure out what exactly to say that would sum up what I experienced at not only one, but two, @gangofyouths shows this weekend. And if I'm being honest I'm still not completely sure how to do it, but I'm gonna give it a go. I spent both nights after the shows crying on my couch because I was so overwhelmed at what I'd just experienced. I felt so many different things and had no way to express them that didn't make me sound cliché or like a total trite little asshole. I was still stupid giddy with joy to have bought tickets for the first night, and relieved to have found one for the sold out second that I had not planned on going to. I left Friday proclaiming to the world, "that was the best show I've been to!" And I was right. Until Saturday somehow took it to a whole new level. I was moved watching five men break down the walls of toxic masculinity as they connected on stage with a love for one another so palpable it filled the room. I was vulnerable as I waited in line and swapped stories with others about how this band has touched our lives. Hearing their favorite songs and sharing lyrics that touched our souls. All nodding as we collectively understood one another and realizing that we were no longer strangers. I was raw as the music they played filled the room with stories that delt with metal health issues such as suicide, anxiety, depression; feelings of loss, loneliness, hopelessness, anger and desperation. But more importantly it they tell a story overcoming all of that and that hope, kindness and loving without apprehension even if it hurts, conquers all. I was inexplicably happy that they have shared their stories with us and that I was able to be a small part of it. So thank you, @gangofyouths, for everything you've done. The last two nights were more than shows, they were truly an experience. #gofartherinlightness #gangofyouths #lovehard #loveoften Two of these photos are by beautiful souls I met and shared this experience with (I borrowed them because I'm shit with a camera at a concert). ?:@kidinsatiable ?:@jensisung
