Comments: At about 7:30 pm local time, the band shares the news on social media that tonight’s gig will feature Dave doing an acoustic set on the theatre floor because one of their crew received a 110V electric shock on stage during the band’s soundcheck. The post says, “we refuse to come to phillie [sic] and not play for you.” Here’s the full message:

The news doesn’t seem to deter anyone, as fans line up outside the venue and around the block despite the change of plans and promise of a full refund.

Ultimately, Dave and Tom do an acoustic performance on a small platform on the main floor in front of the stage, with metal barriers giving them space from what looks like a sold-out crowd. The gig begins with Dave doing a solo version of “Kansas,” a track from The Positions that hasn’t been played since the Say Yes to Life tour on November 3, 2018. (To be fair, there are later shows on that tour where we don’t have a setlist, such as Nov. 4, 12, 14, and 16…so it could’ve been played at one of those.)

The gig also features a few other milestones worth mentioning:

  • “Fear And Trembling” is played for the first time since February 17, 2020, in London.
  • “Do Not Let Your Spirit Wane” is played for the first time since November 30, 2021, in Bristol.
  • “Bird On The Wire,” a Leonard Cohen cover, is played for the first time at any Gang of Youths gig.
  • Dave tells the audience this is the first time he’s played “Brothers” on guitar. (see a clip below)

At various points between songs, Dave does a Q&A with audience members.

Videos, Photos, etc.

Video above has a clip of “Brothers,” played on guitar for the first time.
