Gang of Youths’ support slot for Sam Fender won’t happen next week

(Update: See March 18 update at the end of our original story.)

Yesterday it was Groovin’ the Moo. Today it’s Sam Fender’s upcoming UK tour going on hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The singer announced today that the upcoming dates, which included five shows that Gang of Youths was set to open, will be rescheduled.

We’re working on rescheduling the upcoming UK tour, more info to follow soon. Stay safe ❤️

GOY was scheduled to open for Fender at a handful of shows between March 26 and April 3 in London, Cardiff, Leeds, and Newcastle.

It’ll be interesting to watch if Fender’s rescheduling still allows Gang of Youths to have a support slot. The bigger question is how soon those shows will even be able to take place.

UPDATE, March 18

Sam Fender has announced new dates for his UK tour, which is now scheduled for August/September 2020.

The announcement offers no mention of support acts. Gang of Youths currently has two U.S. festival shows scheduled in September that would clash with the final dates of Fender’s new tour itinerary.
