Gang of Youths to open for Mumford & Sons on 2019 European tour

Huge announcement early today: Gang of Youths will do a European tour this spring as the opening act for Mumford & Sons on their Delta Tour 2019.

Together, they’ll play 16 shows in 12 countries in just under a month’s time. The first show happens April 25 in Lisbon, and the tour comes to an end May 21 in Stockholm.

Tickets

Tickets for some shows are already sold out; others are still available — check the Mumford & Sons tour page for details.

Itinerary Details

The Delta Tour itinerary takes GOY right up to their scheduled festival appearances in the U.S. over Memorial Day weekend. In fact, it creates a conflict with a previously announced appearance at the Hangout Festival in Alabama. That event is scheduled for May 17-19, but Gang of Youths is now booked each of those nights with shows in Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Oslo, respectively. So it seems pretty obvious that the Hangout Festival won’t be happening for GOY.

When they tour with Mumford & Sons, Gang of Youths will be visiting five countries for the first time: Portugal, Italy, Austria, Luxembourg and Sweden. They’ll be making only their second appearances in Norway, Switzerland and Denmark.

The tour is playing mid-sized and large arenas, with capacities ranging from ~6,000 to ~18,000.

Mumford & Sons vs. Foo Fighters

With several of these shows already sold out, Mumford & Sons obviously has a solid base of fans in Europe, so this could be a comparable level of exposure to last fall when Gang of Youths opened for the Foo Fighters in the U.S. That was only seven shows; this Mumford & Sons opening slot covers 16 shows.

GOY made a lot of new fans on that Foo Fighters tour. Here’s hoping something similar happens in Europe this spring.
