While Gang of Youths is killing it on their just-started North American Say Yes To Life tour, back in Australia the band picked up two honors at the 2018 National Live Music Awards on Thursday night (Dec. 6) — an event that played out simultaneously at seven different venues around the country.
The band’s two awards came in these categories:
- International Live Achievement – Band
- Best Live Act – NSW
Courtney Barnett won the solo award for International Live Achievement, if you’re curious.
GOY picked up four awards in the 2017 NLMAs. And at the inaugural NLMAs in 2016, they won one — Best Live Act – NSW, the same award they collected on Thursday.
UPDATE: The NLMAs have published their own recap of the night’s events, and it includes a couple nuggets we should add to this article:
- Gang of Youths is the only artist to win the same category all three years running. In GOY’s case, they’ve won “Best Live Act – NSW” each year.
- Gang of Youths is the most-awarded artist overall in NLMA history, with seven awards.
