Mumford & Sons bringing Gang of Youths out on tour (again!)

We had a feeling these two bands really hit it off a few months ago while touring across Europe, and that sure seems to be the case after today’s news: Gang of Youths is touring again this fall with Mumford & Sons.

M&S just announced its Delta Tour US & Mexico 19 — a run of eight new shows in the U.S. and Mexico happening between September 16 and October 11. M&S also has a few festival appearances booked in that same timeframe.

It’ll begin Sept. 16 at Talking Stick Arena in Phoenix. (How’s this for a coincidence: When GOY opened for Foo Fighters last year, that tour also began at Talking Stick Arena. Crazy, right?) From there, the two bands will head to San Francisco and then south for three shows in Mexico. Those will be Gang of Youths’ first time performing in Mexico. From there, it’s back to the U.S. for shows in Houston, Dallas and Oklahoma City.

Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, June 28. But you can get early access to pre-sales on June 27 by registering before tomorrow night. See the Mumford & Sons live page for details and links to pre-register.

As we wrote last month after the two bands’ European tour ended, it was clear that they really got along, so it’s no surprise that Mumford has invited GOY to join them again. From what we could see across social media, that tour was a big boon for GOY — introducing them to a lot of new fans. I’m expecting the same when they hit the road again in Sept./Oct. Heck, it’s already happening now — M&S introduced these new tour dates by posting a great video of their collaboration with GOY on “Blood” from the Stockholm show earlier this year. It’s only been a few hours, and that video on M&S’ YouTube channel already has ~10,000 views.

And keep an eye on this: This year’s Austin City Limits festival is scheduled for the weekends of October 4-6 and October 11-13. Gang of Youths has all those days open, except for the Oklahoma City show on October 11. Mumford & Sons is playing the ACL on October 6 & 13 … don’t be surprised if Gang of Youths, which played a fantastic set there last year, does it again this October.
