The UK’s Neighbourhood Weekender festival has been rescheduled once again, and is now set to take place on the first weekend of September, 2021. The good news: Gang of Youths remains on the bill. More good news: With COVID vaccine distribution spreading around the world, it looks like this event may finally happen.
Gang of Youths is set to perform on day two of the now-three-day festival, which will be Sept. 4, 2021, at Victoria Park in Warrington. James is the headline act that day, a recent replacement for Ian Brown (Stone Roses), who recently dropped out while complaining that he wouldn’t perform at any event where attendees are required to have vaccinations. For the record, the festival hasn’t said that vaccinations will be required; only that they’ll follow whatever conditions are in place at the time.)
Tickets are available on the festival’s website.
Neighbourhood Weekender was originally scheduled for the weekend of May 23-24, 2020, and then rescheduled for September 5-6, 2020 — but both times it had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year’s event was originally scheduled for May 29-30 and then rescheduled to the current dates: Sept. 3-5, 2021.
GOY is also due to play the Ohana Festival in southern California later in September. As of this moment, their next live performance is scheduled for July 10, 2021, at the Mad Cool Festival in Spain. You can see all upcoming Gang of Youths gigs here on Deepest Sighs.
