Dave Le’aupepe will present at the ARIA Awards next week

Looks like there won’t be a Gang of Youths performance, but Dave L. has been announced as one of the presenters at next week’s ARIA Awards in Sydney.

It happens next Wednesday night, November 28, at the Star Event Centre — one year to the date that GOY cleaned up at the 2017 ARIAs. Last year, the band won for Best Group, Best Rock Album (Go Farther In Lightness), Album of the Year (GFIL) and Producer of the Year (with Adrian Breakspear for GFIL). They also performed a killer version of “What Can I Do If The Fire Goes Out?” (watch on YouTube)

This year, the band is nominated twice:

  • Best Australian Live Act (for the 2017 National Tour)
  • Best Video (with Patrick Rohl for “The Heart Is A Muscle”)

So Dave being a presenter works out perfectly — if GOY wins one or both of those awards, he’ll be there to collect the band’s hardware.

The ARIA’s will air next week on the Nine Network.

Gang of Youths get two 2018 ARIA Award nominations

GOY picked up two nominations for the 2018 ARIA Awards today:

  • Best Australian Live Act (for the 2017 National Tour)
  • Best Video (for “The Heart Is A Muscle”)

These nominations are in addition to the four awards the band collected at last year’s ARIAs.

This year’s awards will take place on November 28 at the Star Event Centre in Sydney — that’s an off day on the band’s upcoming Australian tour. The awards show will be on Nine Network in Australia.
